At the foot of Montserrat and less than an hour from Barcelona, a territory fragmented by terraces and dry stone huts, dug vats and vats in the middle of the forest awaits you where thousands of hectares of vineyards once stood. A wine heritage unique in the world with authentic treasures at the foot of the vineyard.

Savor the DO Pla de Bages wines produced by ancient lineages of winegrowers, centuries-old cooperatives and small wineries. Breathe in the wine culture of this land, fall in love with the spectacular landscapes of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Central Catalonia and delve into vineyards surrounded by forest, thyme and rosemary. The relationship between geology and wine has existed since humans became winegrowers, and is a valuable heritage of the Geopark. Geological history has determined the rocks, orography and microclimate that make up the landscape. Currently, here, the vineyards follow the river valleys although in the past they occupied many mountain slopes based on an infinity of terraces. The soils derived from clayey and marly soils in the Pla de Bages, and marly and calcareous in the more rugged areas of the central basin limits, are the predominant soils with viticulture in the Geopark.

The wineries of the Bages are mostly family farms, and all have their own vineyards. These characteristics imply a traditional and very personalized care of the vineyard that is translated into the quality of their wines. Currently there are 15 wineries attached to the Ruta del vi de la D.O. Pla de Bages and a whole network of affiliated establishments (accommodations, restaurants, mountain bike guides, etc.) that exude wine culture.
